pigpenz
I have noticed at times when going over results that some robots will bidshortness over bidding a 5 card secondary suit at the four level. I was wondering which robots are programmed to do which.
iandayre
The system notes do not discuss continuations after Jacoby. I assume you have seen robots bid 5 cards suits sometimes but not others. Next time the robot bids 2NT Jacoby as your partner, look at the description of 4m rebids and you'll likely have your answer. One possibility - Years ago I learned to rebid a 5 card suit only if it has at least 2 of the top 3 honors - otherwise show the singleton. Basic and advanced robots use the same bidding system and probably handle this basic, uncontested auction the same way. Mind you I never play with basic robots. Don't understand why anyone but a beginner would. I think BBO should discontinue the use of basic robots. Or at least explain why, given the two types are already programmed, the cost to BBO of using advanced robots is significantly more.
Bermy
Gib tip Remember you are playing "best hand" When gib opens with 1 Major and you fit 3x bid 2NT. You will get a lovely description of Norths hand and you will never miss your game contracts. Who needs 2/1? lol
