dual messaging

It seems that now a lot more carding methods are allowed. Is this correct ?....are Roman leads allowed ? eg.. lead an odd card to say this is a suit to attack but lead a high even card (or a low even cards) to suggest where to shift ? Assuming no tempo problem....?

The white chart explicitly says that dual message signals are not allowed, except on the first discard. It also says that any lead system is allowed. So Roman leads are allowed on that chart. The Green and Yellow charts both say <Same as Red Chart>. The Red Chart says that except for the first discard, only upside down or rightside up ordering strategies are allowed. That's essentially the same as "dual message signals are not allowed". The Red Chart also says that encrypted signals are not allowed when leading, following suit or discarding. Other than that, the chart says nothing about leads. Since the Red Chart's default is "everything is allowed unless specifically disallowed", Roman leads are allowed on that chart, and by extension on the Yellow and Green charts. So Roman leads are allowed on all four charts.

But the Red Chart does allow middle cards to have distinct meanings, for example Woolsey's T98=high SP 765=encouraging 432=low SP. What is illegal is odd-even or more complex card orderings, even if there is no third meaning..(After first discard). IMHO, this was probably what ACBL was trying to do with the "dual message" prohibition but they botched it. Compare the attempt to ban "relay systems" with the nonsensical definition of "relay".
