BoBo11
Helped a friend with a new computer. Installed BBO for her - but Norton Internet Security (NIS) did not let her login. She was able to login IF NIS was disabled. I spoke to Symantec and they told me how to modify NIS to allow the login - by entering the website address and TCP port (which I understand is 9999 for BBO). I tried this (using www.bridgebaseonline.com as the web address) - but it did not work. I then was able to get her to login by allowing ALL UDP & TCP ports - without using a web address. I do not want her to keep this NIS modification - so can someone please tell me what web address to use so that only port 9999 is allowed ??? uday
the bbo program connects to bbo.bridgebase.com on port 9999 bbo.bridgebase.com in tun resolves to one of two addresses (at the moment).69.93.194.10069.93.177.52 However, most of these security products will allow you to specify that an application is to be allowed to connect to the internet. The bbo program is called netbridgevu.exe and it usually resides in c:\bridge base online\ so, the program that needs to be granted permission to the internet is c:\bridge base online\netbridgevu.exe She needs to ask the guys at Norton "What do I need to do so that c:\bridge base online\netbridgevu.exe will be able to connect to the internet using TCP on port 9999 to host bbo.bridgebase.com? What will I need to do in the future when I upgrade the BBO program to the next version?"
BoBo11
Thank you for the reply Uday. I have already talked to Norton about this - and they told me how to use their program to allow the TCP port 9999 to be used. I must specify the web address in addition to the port number. Is "bbo.bridgebase.com" the login web address ??? There is no way on their program to specify c:\bridge base online\netbridgeview.exe, which is the file name and location in the BBO folder on the computer. As I said, I was able to get her to login to BBO byallowing ALL TCP & UDP ports (this does not require a web address)- but I want to restrict the allowance only to port 9999, which does require a web address. I have already tried www.bridgebaseonline.com, which did not work - so do I try www.bbo.bridgebase.com ?????

uday
You might want to open access from the PC to 69.93.194.100and69.93.177.52 instead of bbo.bridgebase.com
