eagles123
I would x but I think it's pretty close between pass 1N and x
sfi
Not a fan of 1NT at IMPs without a stopper, especially vulnerable. If I'm going to do anything it will be double. But competing for the partscore with this hand isn't great, and the target set of hands where we are going to bid and make game is small. So pass from me, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out taking action works this time.
nullve
1N (11-16). The lack of spade stopper is irrelevant.
MrAce
1N (11-16). The lack of spade stopper is irrelevant. It may be irrelevant for your level but for others ignoring both the stopper and vulnerability at the same time is not a wise thing to do, ESPECIALLY when you gave such a wide range for its value! Trust me, we been there and no stopper is my least concern with this hand getting into the auction at these colors.
mcphee
1NT is to me pretty clear and that double is not the hand partner should expect. Sure you have 4 hearts, big deal. I suppose the folks that choose double intend passing a diamond response, hopefully it will only be 2D. 1NT does not promise a spade stop, it says you have the values to protect. Is this the sort of hand you want to play in diamonds? is how you should view the problem. Passing vulnerable could lead to a lost game bonus. nige1
[hv=pc=n&n=sj93ha963datcqt75&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=1spp]133|200|IMP pairs.[/hv]Close decision. I rank1N = BAL. 10-15. (I like 15-18, so this bid isn't usually available to me).Double = T/O.Pass = NAT.7♦ = NAT. Might work well if partner passed with ♠ - ♥ K Q x ♦ Q J x x x x x x x x ♣ -
Tramticket
Close decision. I rank7♦ = NAT. Might work well if partner passed with ♠ - ♥ K Q x ♦ Q J x x x x x x x x ♣ - :) Priceless!
ggwhiz
1N (11-16). The lack of spade stopper is irrelevant. Irrelevant to you but perhaps highly relevant to your partner? I double hoping for a decent plus on offence, push them up to a plus for us on defence or even a bit possible that partner has a pretty good hand with spades length good enough for 3nt that would play double dummy. We don't make off shape doubles from partners seat. The downside would very rarely be more than 5 imps and that's my action zone at imps.
