pclayton
Overall I'd say you were real lucky. You caught pard with a big off shape double.Even then, slightly change the cards around and you are making 3N. You'll do well to take out these doubles. Occasionally you'll have a good result, but it won't do wonders for your partner's confidence.

Walddk
Yes, you were lucky Wayne. You found spades 3-3 and ♦Q doubleton. I had better not tell you how slim a chance all this is, especially given East's take-out double and West's pass. I don't want you to feel sick ;) Roland

When playing trump promotion, it is a rule to cash side trick first, if east cashed club ace b4 play the heart ace, you will not have any chance. 3. you can improve your chance and the play will be more fun. You can keep dummy's club and play a ruffing sqz, rather than relying on dropping the doubleton DQ. Having said that, dropping DQ is a good judgement. The contract is cold on any lead and defence thereafter. Roland

Hongjun, Your post wasted me 5 minutes in trying to find the promotion. Write me a check of 50 Euro for it. You have my address.

Nowadays even world class player/poster dont care what is going on when they comment. Sigh.
pclayton
Sorry, I'm on my blackberry, I assumed your side was defending. My bad. Since I can't pull up the file, let me say that there is only a promotion if Declarer ruffs the 4th heart with the 9 spot or higher.
HeartA
The lead was ♠Q and declarer ducked. Then West shifted to ♥. After 3 rounds of ♥s, if East cashed ♣A/K (trick #5), and then play 13th ♥, there would be a promotion for West (JT after AK9xx). The duck at trick #1 was a bad play and did give opps a chance to defeat 2♠.
