But the sounder West's pre-empt, the fewer points I can expect to see in dummy, and therefore perhaps the fewer entries to allow my hand to be finessed. At all red, preemptor likely has AQ10 seven or eight times, so dummy can't lead through you enough times to pick up all your ♥. Beside that, you hold 2 other QTs. So you're looking at something like at least 3 or 4 tricks in hand. 3 ♥x seems like it will go set something with partner showing values. Infrequently, you might find the opponents with perfect hands making, but the great majority of the time you're going to be positive. While I would not pass in a zillion years with something like Kxx xxx KJx AQxx this hand screams lets try to win the match on this hand. Bad breaks probably abound so trying for 3n carries a lot of risk for not that much reward. Setting 3h 1 should be trivial pursuit and depending on what kind of card p owns (ie aces vs queens) this could easily bring - 3 or 4 vs nothing for us since there is a good chance lefty will have to play the entire contract from their hand.Even sound preemptors run into bad breaks occasionally so lets take advantage of their misfortune.
