imps. comment if you would have done anything different previously. double of 2C would have been takeout of clubs.

I rank

  1. Pass = NAT. Assuming that we employ a strong notrump, we seem to have slightly more than half the points and both sides probably have a 9 card fit. We hold spades over RHO but LHO is probably short in the suit. IMO, we should let sleeping dogs lie.
  2. 3 = ART cue-bid of stop. Hoping partner is able to bid and make 3N. If 3N is defeated by a trick or two, it might be a sacrifice against a making 3. Lacking a stop, partner can subside in 4.
  3. 3N = NAT. A bit of a gamble.
  4. 4 = NAT. Would be OK much of the time and is worth consideration at pairs. At imps, the balance of risk and reward is different. LHO might bid 4 and make it with a lucky lie of the cards. If The 3-level is for opponents then that is also true for a minor at the 4-level.

I'm passing. If I'd have passed over 1 NT, why would I push us to 3 NT or 4 now?

On the auction, partner is likely to have a doubleton . So it looks like a 17 or 18 trump LOTT hand. If we are in 3 NT then we may need have running tricks when they knock out the stopper. At suit contracts, if they are making 3 , we're probably down 1 or 2 in 4 . If we're making 4 , then they are probably off 1 or 2 in 3 .

We've pushed them up a level, so I'm sitting.

Why would double of 2C be takeout of clubs when 2C shows the majors?

because it enables you to collect penalties with lots of points and combined trump holdings rather than needing 1 player to hold a stack and it leaves opener in a stronger position if advancer passes showing clubs.
