1eyedjack
I'd take a well crafted beer over champagne any day (that does not mean Bud BTW).
Phil
Csaba if you come to the left coast the same offer is open. You can even crash at my place.

I'll be at a conference in New Orleans LA (any tips there BTW? I don't like jazz too much.) and will have a few days to spare after it so I thought what is close to Louisiana. Zelandakh
I'd take a well crafted beer over champagne any day (that does not mean Bud BTW).Are there any American beers that count as "well-crafted" after having lived in Germany? If he were going for the beer I suspect he would be coming to visit me in Bavaria instead! ;)

FWIW, I think that the good American beers are easily as good as what you find over in Germany these days.Between the consolidation in the German beer industry and the rise of America micro breweries, there has been a true sea change. And do look me up if you find yourself in/around Boston....

NO is one of the few regular NABC stops that I have not been to. I also canceled my trip there in '09. Others can opine, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of great tips. MrAce
Austin? No But I may drive him to Laredo or El Paso area where they take truckers illegally into Juarez with a shuttle for 20$ for an awesome party night. Only issue is, some of the folks who were in that shuttle, never show up anywhere on earth again. http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif Casaba! gwnn
I was mostly just joking about beers. Although I like some good Belgian tasty stuff and can tell them from Heineken, I am not one of the people who find lagers (even very watery ones) disgusting. I know next to nothing about champagnes. Weirdo. So passengers aren't allowed to joke about having a weapon, but it's OK for security guards? Unfair! I think this thread is veering quickly into WC material. johnu
New Orleans tips collected on my Mardi Gras trip last year - Music - Dueling pianos at Pat O'Briens, also Ticklers and Spririts on Bourbon street. Also, Frenchmen Street, about 3/4 mile northeast of the French Quarter, is a less touristy area filled with nightclubs with live music. Food - Too many great places to name. Check out Yelp. One dish that more than met the hype was Death by Gumbo (stuffed quail) at Restaurant R'evolution.
