Bidding marks ♣K in north, and also diamonds should be 5-2 (no chance when they are 6-1). I don't think we can make when ♠J is third normally, I think we should assume trumps are 2-2, and then some lines will allow to make even when 3-1. If south is 2155 ♣K is falling in 3 rounds, this is probably our best hope. To make we need to win ♥A, ♣A, ruff a club, ♠A, ruff a club and see if it falls. If it does we can run ♦K, knowing that when south ducks it we can enter hand with trumps instead of conceding a heart ruff. When ♣K doesn't fall in 3 rounds we will need to ruff 4th club, next is ♦K. South can defeat us by not covering when he has ♠Jx ♥QJ ♦AQxxx ♣xxxx, as he will be able to pitch his last club on the third heart. But there is nothing we can do. When he covers we will ruff in hand low, ruff a club in dummy, and now we need to get to hand with a diamond ruff high to draw the last trumps (that we need 2-2) and make the last 2 with ♥K+♦10. Assume DA covers.T4: Lead CA.T5: Trump club.T6: Lead D10 discarding H.T7: Trump to hand.T8: Trump club.T9: Heart to ace.T10: Trump club.T11: Trump heart.T12, 13 are high trumps assuming I haven't lost anything else. Wins on 4-4 clubs or short clubs not having the SJ, and South having the DA, and 4-3 diamonds and North having (3+ hearts or no SJ). IMO, the best chance is ruff out ♦s, hoping that RHO has say, ♦AQ9xe.g. ♥A, ♠A, ♣A, ruff a ♣, ♦K covered and ruffed. ruff a ♣.If ♣K drops in 3, then draw trumps, making 7 x ♠s, 2 X ♥s, 1 X ♦s, and 2 x ♣s.If ♣K doesn't drop then ruff a ♦ with ♠T.If ♦s are 4-3, claim 7 x ♠s, 2 X ♥s, 2 X ♦s, and 1 X ♣s.Otherwise, hope for unlikely round suit squeeze e.g. RHO fails to cover ♦K and RHO has ♠ J x x ♥ Q x ♦ A Q 9 x x ♣ x x x [/hv] Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

At the table, I actually got a club lead despite the lead directing double (he said he didn't see the double) making things easier still.
