rmnka447
Pass. We've got a fit. There's no way to know what's going on. Bidding 4 ♠ with a 9 loser hand without any ruffing values and ♣ K under the ♣ bidder is a pure crap shoot.
neilkaz
My daddy taught me to bid 4♠ over 4♥ often but I suspect he'd join me in passing this flat hand.
sfi
*Shrug* 4S. I'd be the only one defending 4H if I passed this in an Australian tournament. I'm not sure enough to go against the field.
MrAce
Passing would not even occur to me, let alone actually doing it.I think they deserve something like AJxxxxxAQxxxx Where a-Both 4M makesb-4h makes 4sp down 1c-4S makes 4h down 1d-They both go down 1e-They may bid 5♥f-They may fail to double when both don;t have anything in spades and only holding half of the deck in hcps. Passing wins in extreme conditions such as a-We go down -300 or -500 when they do not make game.b-We can take only 6 tricks in 4♠ when they make game. Are these possible? Yes. Are they likely? No One should play this game to win. I would not want to be teammates with people who passes this which is a big alarm of submissive/surrendering style. mcphee
For those who passed obviously expect their partners to bid 4S when its making. In view of the trump holding we have I suspect they won't. Although the K of club may be badly placed, I do not expect partner to have o/c a trash suit with 3 fast C losers. Defensively our hand sucks. Will they double 4S? Maybe they do but damage is not going to be massive.
nige1
I rank4♠ = NAT. Might make. Your good trumps will inhibit a double.Pass = NAT. Reasonable, considering your flat shape and badly placed clubs but partner might get the impression that you lack confidence in his declarer play.Double = OPT. Offensive values. No surprises for opponents. Expect criticism unless successful. When I click on the "other" vote in the poll, I don't see a name
SteveMoe
4♠. Give them the last guess.
Phil
4♠. Give them the last guess. I think 4♥ gave you (us) the last guess. GL. Applying the principle of - let yourself get pushed up one level
SteveMoe
I think 4♥ gave you (us) the last guess. GL. Applying the principle of - let yourself get pushed up one level No fear here. Yes, poor shape. However partner must have an opening hand (my ♠ are too good). They have to beat us by 3 to make my bid bad. That's not happening. Partner's ♥ values and my ♣ values are not well placed to defeat their game. Their guess.
chasetb
Larry Cohen said to usually bid 4♠ over 4♥, and while I hate 4333 hands, I have 4-card support and values in Spades, and while not likely, a possibly useful K♣. I'll take the dive and bid it.
