Plan the play.
The_Badger
hi manudude03, On looking at this briefly, my inclination is to finesse the ♥9, I presume it loses, win the ♠ return with the ace, and run the ♦8 into the safe hand if West doesn't cover. If West covers ♦8 with ♦J then I would presume he will have the ♦K too. I believe if West has ♥KQ ♦KJ and 3♠+ winners you are always going down. I feel ♥ honours need to be split between the two defenders hands for this to have any chance to succeed. The ♣ finesse is optional depending on what happens next. If East wins the ♦8 he is prematurely end-played after trick 3.

When you run the ♦8, it loses to the jack and East returns the ♣9 which runs to the jack.

If west follows to both I try to drop the Q♥ and if it fails play the diamond finesse.

The_Badger
Full hand here Thanks for posting the full hand. The spoiler clarifies matters. Given the range of scores on the score sheet, it looks like quite a few players had a 'lot of options' :)
