A new BBO mobile app has been released.

 

Main changes are:

 

  • Tab bar and title bar appear smaller on some devices
  • A quick Join Table button for friends
  • List of friends includes details of location/activity
  • Chat button at the table
  • It is now possible to hide/restore tab bar for more table space
  • Performance improvements, bug fixes and minor visual changes

Good improvements. Still checking it out.

 

Found one problem. On iPad.

 

Chat from table dies not work. When I click chat, I get a dialog box, but no keyboard. If I hit send, I get error...you cannot send blank chat. That gets the keyboard.

 

But typing is very very slow. No problem with private chat when not sitting at table.

Miss a "show other tables " button next to the "show detail" button.

Yeah, it's a little bothersome having to click twice, first on Show Details, then on Other Tables.

 

But that button is already pretty small, squeezing two buttons in there might be a problem. And I'm using a tablet (7 inch Kindle Fire HDX), it seems like it would be far worse on a phone.

 

Designing for mobile devices requires lots of compromises.

You don't have to click twice.

 

Just the box where the score is displayed. That will take you directly the the Results screen.

Didn't know about that, but it does the same thing as Show Details. I still have to click a second time on Show Other Tables.

 

This is while playing an Instant Tourney.

But I've changed my mind about the space issue. There seems to be plenty of horizontal space around the Show Details button, enough room for another button the same size.

 

I think so, too. And if you're prepared to shrink the label it shouldn't look crammed.

E.g. "Others" or "Other's results"

 

I can also confirm it is two clicks, and the second click is from a longer menu of items adding to the discomfort.

 

2.

I was wrong about not determining the destination of the chat but it is very low contrast so outdoors it's difficult to distinguish.

But I can confirm that chat works on my iPad 3. Not sure which iPad @baystate has.

Actually I usually don't use BBO mobile App, today I would use Apple ipad and Android ipad respectively to log into BBO. However I maybe encounter several issues.

Note my bbo version is 4.0.2 on my Apple ipad. it is 4.0.1 version on my Android ipad (My android system is 5.0.1) for the time being.

 

1- Language input software maybe conflict on Apple ipad.

For example : I want to input my username by chinese input software when don't switch to English (USA), I only can input " lyci ", have no way to type more.

If I use Android ipad, very good, no problem on it, but its BBO version is 4.0.1.

 

 

2- There is a unused/useless function key.

This screenshot is from my Apple ipad.

Here I have to say that " Help" is a useless function key since I never open it on both of Apple and Android. So it would better delete it.

 

3- It is not easy to look for " Options" on the table since I want to switch some basic and advanced options.

 

BTW

1- However I find that I can open BBO News including BBF link on it very fast (1-2 seconds). And usually BBO mobile App is more fast than pc.

2- Don't be worried,we need some time to upgrade Android BBO to 4.0.2. For Android 4.0.1 version, there are over 7734 downloads so far.

3- Network in China have entered the 4G era, peoples are switching to 4G smart mobile.

NOT miraculous

A minimum usability enhancement would be to:

1/ have more tables in the lobby vacant list by simplifying the view (look at the Window version)

2/ keep a small chat display at the bottom of this same view so that you can figure out who is searching a player

 

I am getting mad of switching between the Play and Messages views to try to enter a table

Similar problem also iPad. chat on table works for a while, then keyboard refuse s to appear. Only iPad reboot solves this. Definitely a bug and not a feature!

Major bug, can't chat when at table (iPad iOS 9.3.5), sometimes even while in Lobby. The keyboard simply does not pop out, how many ever times you hit the Chat button. The user experience has deteriorated. This needs an urgent fix soon. It feels very rude, when you are not able to reply to private message that you get.

Yes, chat is buggy. Sorry about that, bad bug slipped in. We're aware of it and developers are currently working on a fix.

 

One workaround for the time being is to kill app (log off and close background apps). That resets the keyboard.

Ghosts in the friends list. Today under the friends list, I have the profile photo of one friend transposed to another, ( who usually has a blank profile picture). I managed to take a screenshot. I can email it to you, if you think this is a bug. This was on ipad

I'd like to suggest a few interface improvements:

 

1) Make it possible to scroll the chat box. At present this is impossible, so e.g. when watching vugraph you can't scroll back to find a link a commentator posted earlier.

2) Unnecessary feature: swipe left = takes you to the results page, swipe right = leave the table. There is already a way to do both of these, and it's too easy to do this accidentally. Suggest these features are removed.

3) Very difficult to resize the chat box - the "draggable edge" is too small, and of course if you miss it by even a single pixel you have to wait while it loads a new screen (see point 2), then go back to where you were. Please make the "edge" (line that you drag to resize) wider so that resizing chat is easier.

 

I'm using Android (Samsung Galaxy S5).

Watching a BAM vugraph match. Although the team scores are displayed OK, when I tap "Show Results" the boxes in the scorecard where the matchpoints should be are empty. This remains the case when switching to the full-screen results page.

BBO mobile app version 4.0.3 has been released. Only change is chat bugs fixes, but we've noted the other bug reports and they will be addressed in future versions.
