jerdonald
BBO forum, This is probably a much discussed problem here. With me as north, the bidding starts: N E S W 1D P 1H P ? North holds 3H and 12-14 HCP. My partner(S) only wants support for the major if I hold 4 cards. I think distribution may play a part in my rebid. With 3,3,4,3 I would bid 1NT With 2,3,4,4 I would bid 2H I know there are a lot of other distributions that would affect my response. How do you handle this situation? Jerry D. MrAce
I rebid 1 NT with all 433344325332 and 3 card support. I raise with 3 card when I have singleton or void and 11-14 hcp.

The_Badger
Hi jerdonald, As MrAce said, you need more shape to raise partner's one level major suit response to the 2 level with only 3 cards. Doubletons are unfortunately that: doubletons. With ♠A ♥Qxx ♦ Qxxxx ♣ KJxx After 1♦ - pass - 1♥ - pass - I'd rather bid 2♥ than 2♣. 2♥ is far more constructive I feel.
