phoenix214
This is a hand, I might not move over a mixed raise even, so imo pass is clear.
MrAce
Pd had 98xAKxxxxxxxx Not bad game at all, considering East opened 1♣ Would you preempt or mix raise with this? I prefer mix raise.
robert2734
Not a very good game either. If the openning bidder has all the clubs, all the diamonds, the KQ of spades could be offside. If the openning bidder has all the clubs, all the spades, the ace of diamonds could be offside. And you're dead if the hearts are 3-0 assuming you're missing QTx. Me and my partners miss enough ice cold games, we don't have to affix responsibility for missing the 60% games. Still, nothing wrong with agreeing on the strongest hand you can preempt. Phil
Partner should have exactly 4 trump, shortness and one big card or 5 trump without a stiff. Given that our opponents arent bidding I'm inclined to put him on like xx Axxxx xxx xxx. 3 is plenty.

Certainly not a preempt. Mixed raise is fine. Would not complain about a raise to 4 (but would prefer a singleton or void in the hand. Would have passed the preemptive raise. gszes
Late to the conversation so I already saw partner's hand and IMHO it is not unreasonable 3h bid since it has lots of hearts and zero defensive tricks (sounds like a preempt to me). a Preemptive raise is not exact science and at imps we are stretching to bid vul games anyway. I can see an argument for pass at MP since we might have already gotten a fair amount of MP but IMPS when all we need is something like Qxx Axxxx xx xx with the opening bidder on our right for game it seems far too timid to pass here Even if rho happens to have the heart AQ and a couple of side tricks they will probably not want to x expecting their heart Q to be dead so the risk factor is also limited dramatically and the rewards? well they are quite nice indeed. dboxley
I rankPass. Assuming a max for partner might be ♠ x x ♥ Q x x x x ♦ A x ♣ x x.x x4♥ The hand you give is about 2 tricks too good for a preemptive raise. A super-max would be x Qxxx Qxxx xxxx
SteveMoe
Pass. I hope 3 isn't too high ;)
rmnka447
Pass With my favorite partner in competitive auctions, responder would bid 4 ♥ showing 5-8 and 5 trump instead of 3 ♥ which would show 5-8 and 4 trump. (Yes, 2 ♥ shows 5-8 and 3 trumps.)
dboxley
Why would I ever want to take a call? Did I misread this? Hope we can hold it to -1. Oops, I just saw that I already answered this once. At least I am consistent.
