Phil
I'm freaked out about 5D pull but I can't pass and 4N seems too unilateral.
Cyberyeti
Can't pass, could be making a slam opposite a 6 count, partner won't pass often if I double but will bid 5♦ too often for my liking, that leaves 4N.
Jinksy
X. I suspect our best contract will score better than 4♠X, but I don't much like our chances of finding it.

gszes
those sneaky vul 4s bidders far too often have a void (like maybe hearts which would bode ill for us on offense) and then there is always the question -- what is more likely to get a 5d peep out of partner x or pass. I think x will get us in 5d (probably hot soup) far more often then pass and since I have no clear directon I will pass for now and see if perchance p can back in. WesleyC
Double here is TAKEOUT and will no doubt get us to a hopeless contract in a red suit. So no choice but to pass and hope partner can act.

nige1
Double here is TAKEOUT and will no doubt get us to a hopeless contract in a red suit. So no choice but to pass and hope partner can act. if partner has 4+ ♣s or 3+ ♥s together with ♦ length, and he decides to remove your double, he is likely to bid 4N, which would improve prospects of reaching a playable contract. Jinksy
Double here is TAKEOUT and will no doubt get us to a hopeless contract in a red suit. Double here is whatever the partnership agrees. Personally I'd just play it as values, and expect P not to pull unless he expects to make.
Phil
I'm just not dealt a takeout double at the 5 level very often so I need x to be a lot of hands but not obviously pure penalty.
wank
funny how double is whatever people want it to mean. to me it's more takeouty than this. i just pass.
Fluffy
http://www.eurobridge.org/repository/competitions/16budapest/microsite/Asp/BoardAcross.asp?qboard=013.01..1210 Match one, and we get to the single most costly decision of the tournament which I couldn't get out of my head for the following days when we could still dream of getting to BB. Federico decided to double because he was too good to pass or whatever, and I decided to take it out with my ♠xxx thinking they would be a source of tricks for us O_o. My take out was not good, I don't know if it was only bad or simply terrible, and the worse of all is that I decided it too quickly, this is the hand where I think the fever might have affected me the most. This is too important decision to be taken in around 15 seconds. To make things worse I took it out to diamonds instead of 4NT, this could had turned a winner if Federico passed 5♦ as Robson forgot to double it, and who knows, maybe Forrester passes it too and we win 9 instead of losing 14 with the +800 on the other table. But no, he rectified to 5♥, and defence was really accurate, ending with -1700. Passing 4♠ doubled would win 14-16 IMPs instead of losing them, turning a big loss into a small victory for about 8 VP difference. If any of us bid 4NT 5♣ would go between 800 and 1100, most likely 1100.
