1eyedjack
This made me chuckle. A year or so back, GIB East would have overcalled 2S to show Spades and a minor. I applaud its decision to treat this as a single suiter, despite that 2S works better on this occasion (provided West can restrain himself from bidding 4S). not that competing at all rates to gain a whole heap. Now, if only we could educate West ...
iandayre
I'll pose this as a debate subject: RESOLVED - the biggest problem with GIB's bidding is that it allows bids at higher levels with insufficient length. So often the descriptions say "4+" when even 5 is very questionable, should be 6. Pro or Con?
Bbradley62
How about debating whether West should open in second seat?
iandayre
How about debating whether West should open in second seat? I think just about everyone opens that hand these days. We'd likely have trouble finding many that would pass.
johnu
Another GIB SNAFU. This is a too frequent recurring theme that GIB with shortness in partner's long suit, runs to another suit (sometimes/frequently with only 4 cards) when there is no expectation that there will be a reasonable fit found by running. The problem is that 3H is defined as having 4 hearts so as it has that therefore it bids it. 3NT would probably make too.
