Chamaco
I guess it wd be nice if you added an option for right-clicking on a players name, such as:"Show this player's default convention card" Maybe one player may have one or more conv card, with one default listing his general bidding system, and a couple of more elaborated, perhaps due to specific pships ? Just my 2 cents :-)
ahri
i think space for your "Other Information" should be increased, most of us can't type in everything they love/want to play. And i like your suggestion too... any of these would be fine. I get annoyed when i have to describe my system too often :).
42
I would really appreciate this. With my regular BBO-partner I play a strong club system and it takes much time to type explanations to clarify an opening bid or a relay, many bids with "either-or" meanings. I have no idea whether it is possible or how difficult it is to create a "personal right click popup list" for chosing a description of a bid. :) Caren
bestguru
It would be nice if there was more space on all the fields in the convention card. I can't even abbreviate my 2c opener. $C WD WHm SHm 18-20B G4441 doesn't fitwhere $=Strong W=Weak H=hearts m=minor B=Balanced G=Game Force

Chamaco
The ONLY trouble with this idea is MOST people DONT have any CC ----- Let alone a "default" one :D True. There are 2 kind of people: a. those who will NEVER have a conv card (e.g. even at the club game they often are without CC) b. those who usually fill it. I am arguing that - with the current tools - even people "b" (who normally would care to fill the CC) do not fill the card anyway because it is not straightforward to access it.With improved tools, there are better chances it will be filled. Of course I might be overoptimistic, and it is not clear how much this improvement would be a real priority :-)
Brandal
a. those who will NEVER hav a conv card (e.g. even at the club game they often are without CC) I would fall off my chair if anyone at my club asked me for a CC to browse through before bidding :D

Alert/Announcement structures are a "supplement" not a "replacement for" convention cards.
pigpenz
well Brandal you would fall out of your chair alot at my club! :D Everyone used to dive for my card mainly 1NT=10-13hcp :) actually I think more space would be nice too!

My point wasn't that it's wrong to have a CC at the club,it was more a way to say where I play we're basicallythe same players every week,we're usually only 6 tablesand I guess for most players 75% social/25% competitivefeel about the game. :) I'm sorry if I don't consider a club night a WBF event. I completely agree, would be great Just my 2 cents, but I doubt that increasing the "Other info" textbox would lead to more bidding agreements listed. I think that 90% of BBOers would only use it for adding more stuff to the current prevailing style of info provided such as "Today I'll eat rice cake, tomorrow maybe pasta, next week perhaps burritos"... :D My point is, I think more space for bidding info should be allowed only in a separate form (which people won't use for funny and pleasant- but frivolous - quotes), but accessible more easily than the current CC :-)

mycroft
Call me mad, but I think "other information" is...other information. If someone wants to say something that isn't just a(nother) laundry list of conventions, I don't see why it's in any way "frivolous" or "unnecessary" or "wasted space". I have lobbied for years for more space in the "bridge places" - CCs in particular - because while 90% of the time they are totally unused (maybe a "my profile pd?" (ugh, now I have to look in two places for their information, and remember which one it is), maybe nothing), the other 10% are people for whom disclosure *matters*, frequently for a very good reason (they don't play what you'd expect) - and they could use double the space. I now admit that I have lost that battle, and when people complain about the lack of information on my CC, I point out that I use every character BBO gives me (and on alerting bids, I "short explain" in the short space, and long explain chat to opps). My "other information" has for the last while been the Rincewind comment about multiple explanation marks. I guarantee that choosing sanity will lead to better scores than any 4 conventions in the "laundry list" (not least because I choose not to play with diseased minds). So who's not saying that it's not important? Michael.
