PhilG007
I doubt that there are many people here who are half your age, and I think that many if not most forum members have as much playing experience as you. But anyway I don't really believe you that Rixi frequently defended antiquated methods. Her bidding system was CAB which asked for Aces 'up the line' That was popular in the 30s
PhilG007
Even so, challenges of this nature would definitely be "away games" from PhilG007 perspective. Many of the arguments that he gets into on these forums centre on his preference for methods significantly at odds with those that he would be obliged to play with a robot.I play frequently with GIBs here.....even more so now that BBO has introduced day long tournamnets. And I have to admitthey are better than some human partners I've had (!) <_<

PhilG007
I've tried to stay out of this, but you need to get over the whole bully-victim complex. Most here have gotten into big arguments, myself included, with others before. All I will say is that you live and learn but hitting your head against a brick wall isn't a good idea. That's kinda difficult when you're 'Narcissic' which I've noticed is a widespread failing on these forums :(
PhilG007
Take a closer look, Phil. Your location deceives you. http://i67.tinypic.com/es70g3.jpgHave you been there as well(?!) ;)
PhilG007
I have wondered whether you get people to agree to your methodsThat is entirely their choice. When I enter a tournament,my profile is on view for all to see. Whether they choose to invite me or pass me overis a matter for them. The same principle applies when I send an invitation. They can either say 'yea' or 'nay' and the decision is final.

PhilG007
PhilG I mean this with the greatest respect but either you are a (not very good) troll or you wildly exaggerate your own ability at bridge Literally no advanced player in world bridge would agree with 90% + of your posts, in fact I think a player of just a few weeks experience would be scratching their head with some of the stuff you come out with! You have much to learn,Grasshopper :(

So want to accept my invite or Richard's? I'll play it in the cards, no crazy NT openers or psychs. Here's how to accept a challenge, or create your own: Click Challenges: https://snag.gy/N6P0hQ.jpg You'll see a few invitations there, click the ones you want to accept and click Accept. Then you can play them any time just like the daylong tourneys. You and your challenger don't have to be online simultaneously or in the same time zone to play out your boards. diana_eva
Your challenge has been accepted and completed Thanks. Not bad :) I got you by bidding 3 games, but in rest it was even (16 boards, IMPs, random hands). I played it fair, no crazy GIB stuff, just human bridge: http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:806caec9.0def.11e6.a318.0cc47a39aeb4-1461923298&u=diana_eva Looking forward to Phil vs PhilG

barmar
Everything I stated in my topic on 'Etiquette' in another forum has been glaringly borne out in this one.Anyone who is new to these boards is probably thinking "Whatever happened to this nice friendly game called'Bridge'(?) Is it no wonder nobody wants to take up the game if they have to face the sort of bullying and harassmentI've had to undergo????Well get this, since none of you own this site, you have no control what is said on it. As a patron,I have every right tosay what I want to. Anyone who disagrees with it can just ignore it as though it were invisible. You start a deliberately provocative thread, and then complain that bridge is not "friendly"? And since when was bridge ever really considered friendly? I thought Zero Tolerance was a direct reaction to the fact that duplicate bridge had become very unfriendly. And that was something like 15-20 years ago.
Phil
Been at a tourney all day. Will look for the invite when I get home or maybe tomorrow. Thanks for setting it up.
neilkaz
So in these challenges, who are each players' PD's? GIBs? Or? How are they scored etc?
1eyedjack
So in these challenges, who are each players' PD's? GIBs? Or? How are they scored etc?It is a 2 table match between 2 individuals. 2 humans sit South. 6 robots occupy the other seats. Everyone plays robot system. Challenger sets number of hands and type of scoring. MP is a bit weird because there is only one comparison for each hand. Effectively point-a board. Not sure whether robots in play are basic or advanced. But you are not paying for them so basic seems likely. Perhaps Barmar can clarify? I have seen this asked before but missed the answer if there was one.

And since when was bridge ever really considered friendly? I thought Zero Tolerance was a direct reaction to the fact that duplicate bridge had become very unfriendly. And that was something like 15-20 years ago."And since when was bridge ever really considered friendly?" For answer I quote from a classic bridge book :-" Why is it,Master Robert, that you humans so often hold disagreeable post mortems? You sit down to play a game as part of your social life. In many cases the players are friends, and in others club acquaintanceswho are at least supposed to be friendly. Yet how often you say cruel, hurtful, bitter things to each other when allyou are doing is discussing the technique of a sport. In other sports, golfers, chess players, footballers and anglerstalk vigorously about their exploits-sometimes not too truthfully. But they hardly ever allow their debates to becomeacrimonious and seldom express themselves rudely or bitingly. Discussions of bidding and play can be of enthrallinginterest, and things of sheer intellectual delight can be discovered that way. Why,then, don't you humans just enjoy them, without so frequently making them accusatory, quarrelsome, and sometimes even the occasion for a broken friendship? Why is it,Master Robert?" -The Nine of Hearts in "Right through the Pack"

Phil
He can't play the set before you accept the challenge. Weird. So if you challenge someone you can't play the boards first? Because if its an open challenge you can play the boards first.
