1. Depends upon what 3 means. If 3 is weak, 3. If 3 is forcing, double (to get a spade lead) as we are not going to outbid them. If 3 is limited *not weak*, say 10-12, then probably pass, as they will take a shot at us in three hearts, and I have the wrong number of diamonds. Also, I don't want a heart lead unless partner wants to lead them.

2. 2H is crazy. But i would have overcalled 1H. I lead diamond king and hope it is right.

3. Abstain. I suspect WEST psyched 1S, parnter is 4-6 in spades and diamonds, but I like pass of 2C here to show 1 or 4+ clubs (2/3 dbl now), and i like raptor, so partner will not have four spades. I am sure raptor and 2/3 doubles not enforce here, so the right bid is probably 2S... although we could run into 4-1 trump split. i

lol, such an unsound bid! bad suit...bad hand...

I would also overcall 1H rofl :D love MP. I don't know why but this type of bid seems to work out more than it should.

1. 3H. Could backfire if LHO has the balanced 18-19 hand, but it's worth the risk at matchpoints... I guess :)

2. Pass. They're at the 3 level. Mission accomplished.. lol. Would have bid 1C-2C with a pard not indoctrinated into that "michaels = 55" nonsense :)

3. If pard's double of 1S is penalties, I bid 2S. Otherwise I double.

Some answers if you want them

1).

3 was nearly unanimous, that's hat I bid at the table, and I collected -500 quickly, -200 would be a disaster as well since -130 is their top. only Ben guessed it right since 3 was 10-11 (hidden on the original post if you wondered to look :huh: ).

2).

I messed it up :-(

I wanted to see how much would lead K as I did, if you thought your suit was worthless to bid at the 2 level take a look a tthe full hand:

[hv=n=skjhaqjd87xxxcxxx&w=s87xxxhkxxdqjcjxx&e=s10xhxxda109xcakqxx&s=saq9xh1098xxdkxcxx]399|300|[/hv]

3).

Playing enough with my partner I was nearly sure he was 3352 on this auction and I guessed, my 2 contract hit gold when the full deal was:

[hv=n=skjhaqjd87xxxcxxx&w=s87xxxhkxxdqjcjxx&e=s10xhxxda109xcakqxx&s=saq9xh1098xxdkxcxx]399|300|[/hv]

I supose 2 was also playable.

No, it never occurred to me to check for hidden text. But before I bid, I like to know waht the opponents agreements are. So, I gave my three bids based upon what 3 means.

Well, I would be in hearts, or would have heard partner raise hearts at least, becaause as I said, I would bid 1H. PArtner would have never bid that anemic diamond suit (at mp, probably shouldn't bid it anyway). So the diamond king lead would never have happened after I overcalled 1H.

I pass and lead a trump.

Maybe 1S was a psyche and he got us, too bad.

The only move made by pard was a balancing seat 2D, so we shd not gamble on him having to much.

What now?

I would open South's hand with 11 hcp and 2 quick tricks, so the problem would be solved from the beginning.

This hand demonstrates that the old adage "with a good hand you do not have always to bid, you'll have another chance to show your strength" often leads to awkward situations.

So, thinking of THIS hand:

pard has a full, sound opener (his 2nd round double shows that) and we are at favourable vuln. 3NT should payoff more than defending 2C doubled.
