A new version of BBO was released today. This is Version 1.48r.

 

Main changes are:

• Newsfeed
• Challenges
• Free Daylong Tournaments
• New design

Something went wrong sorry. Some features were disabled while techs figure out what happened. No more daylong tourneys, posting to feed is disabled and some other features missing here and there.

 

Edit: All features enabled again.

It's not bad.. but if i tried to pick the ugliest blue and the ugliest green, i'd likely choose ones u took for 2 main pannels we'll have to look at daily.

lack some italian translations in various pages.

I personally find the new format ugly! and non informative. Bring back the old style please. As a Designer I find the site ugly.

Congratulations to BBO.

Excellent design and very good changes, I like it very much.

Today I log into bbo, it shows " No way to get " News Feed " ( it is by chinese characters to tell me), but after half a minute, I can get it. I think this may be caused by my browser. In fact, I often never opened " BBO News" link in the past.

For years I have appreciated the wonderful BBO website and the service it provides to bridge players the world over. But I don't see the point of the ugly new design. It looks like change for change's sake. What a shame.

Change is always good. But I think BBO shall not re-group the buttons and change the theme at the same time. Can we change the colours to the old scheme (for now)?

Have a look in the drop down menu of "My BBO" in the upper screen. There you find your hands and results

Now I can't find " Bridge Movies " since I never open it, I don't know the reason.

Now I have no way to open " About Solitaire Bridge ". I don't know the reason.

A few things:

 

It would be nice to have a way to mark all items in the news feed as read.

 

I created a challenge, which I could not see until I exited to the home screen, and then re-entered the Challenges screen.

 

To create a table in the main bridge club:

• I first have to decide between 'Casual' and 'Competitive' (It's not very intuitive that it is Casual is the one I want)
  
• Start A Table
  
• Start An IMP Pairs Table
  
• Then I get to choose between 'Competitive Game' and 'Relaxed Game'. Hmm .. I've already said I don't want a Competitive game .. confusing.
  

 

The Challenges option is a nice addition. Thanks!

Clear your browser's cache memory and restart browser pls. Bridge Movies was removed temporarily when part of the upgrade was rolled back, but now it should show again.

I have done, but I never open it , including all the link of News Feed. It seems it have nothing to do with BBO, I don't know the reasons.

You are never going to please all of us old dogs, and even some young dogs are averse to change. The new design is just fine with me, as intuitive as ever. Although I suspect there will be some older-version functions that users need help finding, they seem few to me.

I do have one concrete observation and request for change associated with the selection of what info is displayed on the rightmost pane. I don't mind that the rightmost pane initially displays the News Feed items (you want people to see the items right away), but I would prefer that your re-order the selection tabs at the far right so that Who's Online is at the top, My Results is next, and the News Feed tab is re-positioned as the bottom tab. Just the old dog in me, I guess, wanting things to be in the order of my established personal priorities.

And for other members: I believe it is fair to assume that BBO would not undertake a major user-interface re-design unless there was a good reason. Trying to add new functionality into an existing structure might be one of those good reasons, and changing the way we see the screen on start-up is also a good way to let us know that we're using a new version (we're not in Kansas anymore).

And we still have lots of long-time users who prefer the old version. We have said for a long time that we won't break it for them. About 25% of users still use the old version.

It is very ugly, blind and not intuitive. I still like the oldest version - client. You should come back to the client version - it is much faster and nicer. Each new version = getting worse. :-(

Why is it that when something wotks and is easy to use, the developer has to change it? This new version is just awful-- please b ring back the old version!

The massive free tourneys we're calling Daylong tourneys are back. (They had to be removed yesterday because of performance problems)

 

These are tourneys that run for the entire day, you get the whole day to play them. The field will be thousands of players if we do things right. We will keep monitoring and increasing limits.

 

One of the main features of these tourneys are still missing. They are meant to be cheat resistant by having a group of deals each player randomly receives when he joins the tourney. If all goes well, this will be in tomorrow.

You should know this will become a serious problem.

It should say that the most of bbo complainers are from them, even many of them don't know web-client. They often complain about the lack of certain features, of course, hoping BBO add some powerful features, just like web-client, some of them is very difficult to understand why doesn't upgrade it since it have been still using old software.
