Injunction issued against Bridgewinners

Recommended Posts

Seems like an April Fool's joke to me. Let's see what happens in a few hours.

EDIT: On rereading the post on the Bridgewinners site, there are several things about the post that just don't ring true. I am convinced that it is an April Fool's joke.

You can still get into the site via various direct links such as for example https://bridgewinners.com/article/view/director-call-2nd-level-thinking-in-the-platinum-pairs/?cj=332775#c332775 which contains a post from three hours ago. That suggests that it is an April joke. But it is a weird way of making a joke, to make your whole site almost inaccessible.

But if you try to navigate within the site you are directed back to the notice.

If so, they left it rather late in the day to implement. Or maybe they don't realise that other countries have different time-zones.

First Amendment, being about free speech, makes it unlikely that any judge, even a Florida judge, would issue an injunction on the grounds suggested in the Bridge Winners post. Even the posting of the site closing would have violated the injunction. Conclusion: APRIL FOOL.

Gotta love April 1. If this had been real, we might have read something along the lines of "We need your help. In order to attain effective counsel we need our readership to step up and donate $10 each so we can afford something more than some public defender greener than the pass cards. Payment is as simple as purchasing an NABC entry online through our site. Thank you for your understanding."

I'm no lawyer but believe if this had been real they would have asked for money (again).

My assumption is that this is real. They had a great April Fools system previously, letting people create articles and tag it April Fools and this isn't at all funny (imo). The ability to get there via https is likely an oversight when implementing the injunction if they only forwarded port 80 but not 443.

It seems odd that such a diverse group of individuals as some who have been banned from the site for policy violations and some who have been accused on the site of cheating should band together to act as joint litigants in an application for injunction.
