ThanksThe offender's partner is always subject to lead restriction according to Declarer's request when he has the lead while the offender has MPC. If he cannot comply with the request the restriction is void for that particular lead. Finch Posted March 26, 2016 Report Share Posted March 26, 2016 If both hands have a major penalty card, then the first thing a defender must do when he gains the lead is play it; declarer's option to restrict/demand that a suit be led doesn't apply. No. Law 50D1(b) "The obligation [to follow suit or] comply with a lead or play restriction takes precedence over the obligation to play a major penalty card, ..."So if both defenders have a MPC, declarer may impose lead restrictions on one defender which overrule the requirement to lead the MPC. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
