I know I just played last week but poohbear said he'd be able to play again this week.

If OK with you I'd like to apply again and maybe this time refrain myself from doubling cold games :)

I will step down if there are two other partnerships willing to play or a full team needing practice - I realize the NABC is almost here and these matches are a good place to iron out partnership wrinkles.

Haui85 and I can play. The caveat is that I have on-call duty, so there is some (<5%) chance I will have to work suddenly. Maybe someone (gszes? sakuragi?) can stick around in case I have to leave?

Happy to step aside if there's a pair without such obligations of course.

Please apply here if you'd like to play vs JEC's team on Saturday.

There will be a break after this match, JEC will be in Reno until March 22-23. Matches resume on March 26.

That's a shame - I have my first free Saturday for ages next week and was going to apply!

Lost by 10, is this correct? Were there any forum members playing or watching so they could discuss the match in a bit more detail than absolute silence?

It was an exciting match, with many chances for us to win. BBF leading 21-0 after the first 5 boards. JEC opened the score at bd 6, which was a 12 IMPs swing when we played 3NT-1 instead of 4H=

More smaller losses and wins followed, another two swings and eventually at board 26 score was 39 to 68 for them.

Board 26 we picked up 12 IMPs when we played 4S and they were in 5D-1.

Board 27, both tables played 3NT but the bidding went differently. At our table, pd managed to get a lead directing X in so we found the defense to set easily:

[hv=pc=n&sn=JEC&s=SK8HA73DQ53CAKT54&wn=diana_eva&w=SQT5HK62DJ92CQ832&nn=llorenzo&n=SJ7643H85DAK64CJ7&en=poohbear&e=SA92HQJT94DT87C96&d=s&v=o&b=27&a=1NP2HDPP2NP3CP3NPPP&p=H2H5H9H3HQH7HKH8H6S3HJHAD3D2DKD7CJC6C4CQS5S4SAS8HT&c=7]399|300[/hv]

At Garozzo's table, there was no lead directing X and we were very hopeful that this board will seal the fate of the match:

[hv=pc=n&sn=haui85&s=SK8HA73DQ53CAKT54&wn=sillafu&w=SQT5HK62DJ92CQ832&nn=mgoetze&n=SJ7643H85DAK64CJ7&en=drewsky&e=SA92HQJT94DT87C96&d=s&v=o&b=27&a=1N!(14-16)P2CP2DP2S!(INV%205%21s)P3NPPP&p=H2H5H9H3HQH7HKH8H6S3HJHAD3D2DKD7CJC6C4CQS5S4SAS8HTC5C2D4H4CTC3S6&c=7]399|300[/hv]

But Garozzo figured it out anyway so he lead a heart and there went our last hope lol.

Last board we picked 7 more IMPs, and so we lost by 10. Bah... close one.

Watched the first 7-8 boards and forums were hanging tough.

At the table Goetze said something like, "forums would have a great record if the matches stopped after five hands".

Too true!
