PASS. I have had enough. I already showed a good hand by overcalling at red, and the quality of the club suit is nothing to write home about. The Q is not the greatest value either.

Finally, I can't be sure that we have a fit. Partner can easily have some length in spades. The worst but possible scenario is 3-4-5-1.

I am happy to defend.

3C, maybe they catch me often enough,

that I will learn the meaning of the Green

Card, if I ever will play for money, this could

be an expensive enterprice.

I just want to play that, but would be happy,

if somebody gaves me the 10, 9, 8 in clubs,

maybe only 2 of these three cards.

With kind regards

Marlowe

Every Thursday morning at 10 am PST I host a friendly rubber bridge game for ten cents a point (Canadian) with many of our local bridge players in attendance. For those of you who believe that three clubs is the proper bid on this hand, I would like to extend an open invitation to join us. Please e-mail me at beatrix45@msn.com. God bless you and don't disappoint. We would love to have you come by.

another vote for pass.

spade queen of questionable value, no evidence that opps have fit, my 2-level overcalls tend to be sound (usually 6-bagger), and I have a partner who heard my bid and just might have said something else with support or some decent cards.

2 & 3NT seems rather unilateral imo. BTW: where are the red cards?

I think you are right on, Trixie. I have found that asking myself "would you do that if you were playing for money?" has saved me from making plenty of decisions that I would have ended up regretting over the years.

Perhaps needless to say, I would Pass.

Thanks all for replies...

Here is the actual hand although it doesn't prove anything...

[hv=n=sjhk9874dqt764c73&w=skt98752hj2dakct8&e=s43hqt6dj9532ckj9&s=saq6ha53d8caq6542]399|300|[/hv]

3NT, 4H gd chance. so +200 against 2S isn't too satisfactory

Anyway, I'm convinced Pass is right in the long run. Thanks all!

Nth could have doubled 2S for takeout. Passing on a 5-5 shape seems timid when pd has ventured a 2 level vul overcall.

I completely agree

Btw, I would probably pass as well with the South hand in this bidding...

3C=or +1 is no better than +200.:) I doubt anyone can find 4H in the context.
