pclayton
Rewind it. Heck. I have a personal rule: if they ever double a game bid where I'm planning a slam try, the blue card comes out. But I'm in a punchy mood this morning. :)
mike777
Pass for now Do you mean what are we going to bid after E runs to 5D?
mr1303
Yeah, I'll send this one back as well. Over 5D, if partner doubles I'll sit for it, if partner passes (forcing) I'll try 5H and see where that leads to.
Guest Jlall
Pass. I really don't like XX: 1) Pard may just have a decent 5 card spade suit with a club fit. How will spades play when the Q8 gets tapped at trick 1 and the spades are breaking poorly? Our XX will discourage him from running to 5C. 2) The opponents may run to 5D, in which case we will have no idea what to do. Again I don't think this hand is necessarily going to play very well and really dont want to bid 5S and I doubt 5D is going for a big number. pclayton
<snip> The opponents may run to 5D, in which case we will have no idea what to do. Over 5♦, I'll try 5N; side heart suit - implied spade tolerance and long clubs. Doesn't anyone find it odd that the preemptor is doubling 4♠? I like a slam bid with these cards instead of passing 4♠ x'd.
the hog
"Doesn't anyone find it odd that the preemptor is doubling 4â™ ? " He has probably made a Lightner and forgotten that he is on lead.
Winstonm
"Doesn't anyone find it odd that the preemptor is doubling 4â™ ? " Opener is not making a pre-emptive gambling 3N - his bid showed a solid suit and outside cards. So, the question is: what does pard's 4S bid look like? Would he bid a suit that would leave enough outstanding spade cards for RHO to double? Has RHO doubled on KJ10x, A, AKQJxxx? If so, pard has introduced A9xxx as a trump suit. Would he? Should he? Also, would a reasonable player bury the spade suit with a first seat 3N with that hand? So the real queston is: What is going on here and what should I do? mike777
I understand. RHO has 18 hcp and 2aces and 4 spadesI have 2 acesIF p has one ace that makes 5 so I assume we are playing with 53+ cards
Winstonm
Mike777 QUOTE]IF p has one ace that makes 5 so I assume we are playing with 53+ cards Exactly!!! Now you are catching on. Who DOES hold the 5th ace? LoL. Seriously though, would it occur to anyone that RHO may hold a much better penalty of 5C than 4S and is trying to pull one over on you? Fluffy
I am not that sure that 4♣ is natural, if partner has ♦Jxxx and ♣xx he will take 4♣ as showing both majors unless you actually agreed that. Still that is unlikelly to happen, I have no clue of what the double is about, so I pass.

After thinking about this for a few days, I feel more strongly about the BLUE card.
