antonylee
Matchpoints, 2/1.[hv=pc=n&s=saht865daq986432c&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=p1sp2dp2s(exactly%205!s)p3dp3np]133|200[/hv] Do you agree with forcing to game? (Normal opening style, balanced 11s are mostly not opened. You had an invitational jump to 3♦ available.)Do you pull?
fromageGB
No.Yes. As you have committed to game you bid 5♦.

SteveMoe
I would bid 1NT (Forcing) and jump to 4♦ unless partner shows ♥ or extra strength. I am absolutely certain that when the bidding goes 1♠ - (P) - 1N - (P)2♠ - (P) - 4/5♦ - APpartner will invariably put down: ♠KQ9876♥J97♦ --♣AQ94
lycier
Never. No fit, no tricks. My plan is first to responde forcing 1NT then 3♦.If ♦ fits without too much wasteful points in ♣ and good control in ♥, slam still is hopeful. Zelandakh
Never. No fit, no tricks. My plan is first to responde forcing 1NT then 3♦.How do you show a weak hand with diamonds then? The OP already mentioned that IJSs are being used so an immediate 3♦ is not available for that hand type.
rhm
It would never occur to me to do anything but force to game and starting to show the main feature of my hand immediately. Is an eight card suit accompanied by two top honors and three first round controls not enough opposite an opening bid to force to game???? I readily admit I sometimes reach games, which happen to go down. We may not have game and we may easily have 13 tricks, I do not know.Passing 3NT exhibits poor judgement. I bid 4♦, unless 5♣ would be interpreted as an autosplinter. I see no need to jump to conclusions here. I like my chances should partner get interested.
