Quiz: How could this happen?

It's my understanding (hopefully Barry will correct me if I'm wrong) that strata are determined individually for each tournament, based on enrollment, with the top third of MP holders being A, the middle third being B and the bottom third being C. So, it's entirely possible for a player to sometimes fall in any of the three divisions. In the tournament results page I've linked, Cherdano qualified for B; in the tournaments immediately before and after that one he was C and A. I'm guessing it was the small high-powered tournament where he was C that he got that funny standings report. There have been several posts suggesting that in-tournament results get reported overall rather than stratified, but BBO seems not to think that's a good idea.

Yes I'm usually Flight C and occasionally Flight B.

Could it be that there are multiple sections (your posted score during the tournament is your section score, I believe) yet the match pointing is done across the field. Then if it turns out that the other people in your section have score less than 50%, you will appear to ranked #1.

I see. I indeed was the only Flight C player in the tournament where this happened. Never realized that the rank displays the flighted rank, seems pretty strange and unexpected.

You were the only one who finished the tournament. Six players started, with two assigned to each stratum.
