Bid too much

3 is actually supposed to show strength. GIB plays lebensohl so weak advancers are supposed to bid 2nt not 3. 3 directly should be ~8-11 IMO.

But west isn't strong enough to move forward opposite a real 3 bid either.

So they need to fix:

- make east bid 2nt (doesn't even meet current definition)

- fix the direct range to something more normal (I think 10-12 is somewhat too high, good 8 count is enough?)

- stop west from moving with minimums.

The description that GIB assigned to the East hand in the alerts is borderline reasonable in a Leb context: 10-12 total points and 11- HCP. I qualify it with 'borderline' because total points is of limited use when the most likely game is NT, as is so often the case when the alternative is a minor.

Here West should concentrate on the "11- HPC" aspect to the explanation, which makes it not good enough to look for 3N, while 10-12 total points is not really enough to go looking for 5C. On an extraordinary day 4H may be in the frame, and 3D *may* elicit 3H from partner, particularly since GIB is prone to bidding a 5 card Club suit before a 4 card major.

But the biggest problem with this hand I think is the mismatch between East's hand and the description assigned to it. While the description may be reasonable, the actual hand is a pure bug.
