Maybe I am overlooking something or I do not understand your point. In the 4 card ending you reached I see no winning play to make all the tricks, which is required for the contract. Why GIB knows single dummy to play the ♦9 instead of the jack escapes me. Even then you have to play diamonds to be 3-3 with the ace on your right to make an overtrick. Misunderstanding, I fear: After 4 tricks (2 rounds of ♥ and 2 rounds of ♣s), it seems natural for declarer to lead a ♦ :( It might work better, to ruff a ♥, before exiting with a ♦ honour :) rhm is right that RHO can underlead ♦ to put you in a similar predicament if you ruff :(I agree with rhm that you wouldn't expect declarer to make an overtrick. :) Except GIB, who plays double-dummy :).Anyway, I wonder what is the best (single-dummy) line?
