Good Start not Continued

I see this time and time and time again from GIB, and I can't understand why it's difficult. Yes GIB makes a great lead but after that surely its a cut and dried case of partner encouraging and then continuing the suit - why switch? the switch for no reason at all is GIB's biggest fault imo.

That's one heck of a K lead. Can you imagine a human coming up such an inspired lead having it hold then switching!?

Yup - would get accused of being wired if human

On this auction, defense should be looking to cash tricks off the top. The tricks aren't coming in a red suit. Looking at the West hand, his side is more likely to cash 5 clubs than 5 spades. It's the switching part that's amazing. Of course, leading a low club probably sets the contract.

I tried to see if playing a different card in clubs would make a difference, but 1) I couldn't make West lead the K no matter what, and 2) If I forced a K lead, then placed a bot in West, didn't matter what East played, West still switched to hearts. Don't know how relevant this is though, since West might not "remember" what was lead.

It's been explained before that although robot is programmed to *give* attitude, as partner of the signaler it doesn't *understand* the attitude, it isn't able to alter its conception of the probable hands based on "would this hand give that signal".

Robot is likely playing partner for AQ of hearts and only 3 clubs.

I think probably the definition for the 3nt rebid should be tightened up with a more narrow HCP range, both higher min HCP & lower max (lower really isn't going to rebid 3nt, e.g. is Jxx xx AKQJxxx x going to rebid 3nt, as definition implies, and 21 HCP with solid 7 diamonds is clearly a 2c opener). I think it should be 6-7 solidish diamonds and maybe around 16-19 hcp, with 2- cards in the suit partner responded in. Supposed to have outside stoppers, I'd be more inclined to rebid 2s as South.

If the definition is tightened up I think it's more likely it finds the continuation realizing that long clubs is far likely the best way to beat contract.
