eagles123
[hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1s2d4dd]133|100[/hv] I assume xx is cue for Diamonds and 4h is cue for hearts but what's the difference between pass and 4s thanks Eagles
helene_t
Normally, when they double our control bid, pass denies a control while bidding on shows second-round control. That obviously doesn't make sense in this situation unless the double asks for a particular black suit (in that case, pass would deny second-round control in that suit). If x shows diamonds, I would take pass as stronger than 4♠. This is fast arrival and also there is a general principle that a forcing pass followed by a pull is stronger than direct action. mgoetze
Pass = I care whether you have first-round control in diamonds.Bid = I don't care whether you have first-round control in diamonds.
monikrazy
4S tells partner you have minimal values and/or are not interested in slam. All other bids are more constructive. Passing for instance, normally allows partner to redouble to show 1st round control, and may also allow him to show 2nd-round control in diamonds. Jinksy
4♠ pretty much forces partner to pass, unless he's splintered on a super-strong hand that always planned to bid on after your sign off. Pass expresses slam interest and denies a first round control.
SteveMoe
Since 4♦ forces our side to 4♠ we play that pass is forcing and 4♠ is slam negative. Redouble shows ♦Ace. 4♥ might be last train without ♦Ace.
