How to cont.?2♣=0-2♠, denies 5♥ (6-8). How to cont.?2♦=Exactly 3♠ (6-8). How to cont.?2♥=5♥, denies 3♠ (6-8). How to cont.?3♣/♦/♥=6-crd, denies 3♠ (6-8). Better suggestions? Kungsgeten
So 1S is not limited (still 16-37)? Can it have a longer minor no matter the strength? I used to play 1♠ as 16--19 with 4+ spades and then we used the following cont: Pass = Bad hand1NT = Relay, does not promise extras2CDH = Natural, about 5--72S = 4 card support, about 3--7Higher = 4 spades, max and some shape 1C--1D; 1S--1NT;2C = 5+ spades2D = 4 spades, 5+ diamonds2H = 4 spades, 5+ hearts2S = 4 spades, 5+ clubs2NT+ = We used this for shapely hands. In your case if 1S is unlimited you could make 2C forcing (Gazzilli like) and perhaps 2NT+ could be hands with extras and 5+ minor? 1C--1D; 1S--1NT; 2C---2D = Relay, promises some extras...2H = 4+ hearts, NF...2S = 6+ spades, NF...2N = Natural...3CD = Natural...3H = 4+ hearts, GF...2S = 6+ spades, GF2H = Natural, weak2S = Preference, weak2N = Natural, some extras3S = INV with 3 spades
straube
Lots of old threads on this. Here's one where I was working on this. It probably has some wrong ideas of mine but I also quoted from some book on the subject. Good luck http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/64633-1c-1d/

In Mavarako, 1H/1S over 1D allow partner to pass with 0-3HCP. Over 1H, 1S is flip flop (forcing nt) and 1NT is 5 Spades. (With 4-4, opener bids 1S over 1D. The forcing Spade/forcing NT suggest no fit and some points 3-6. New suits are not forcing. (Except in the case of Mavarako 2D shows a positive response). In Mvarako over 1C/1D, 2D is a forcing trigger 20+HCP. A semi-positive response is 7-10HCP. I can post the Mavarako structure if you wish.
