GrahamJson
Some play 2H in this situation to be an absolute sign off with at least six hearts, and opener is expected to pass even with a void (of course he can go on with a fit or a very strong hand). Others play that 2H may only be a 5 card suit and opener shoul only pass with xx or better. Both approaches have pros and cons, but I prefer the second approach. At worse you end up one level higher, but you don't miss 5-3 fits. Whatever way you play, 2H is not forcing.
Zelandakh
In standard 2♥ just shows a weak hand with lots of hearts - not forcing. It is possible to play 2♦ artificially as a marionette to 2♥, in which case 2♥ will have a different meaning, most likely showing at least constructive values but artificial and forcing is also possible. P_Marlowe
a bid by a limited hand is never forcing, unless the auction is already forcing to a certain level, usually game level. From this general rule followes: 2H is non forcing, depending on the nature of the 1NT bid and the rest of your system, it may be or less encouraging, e.g. if you play inv.jump shifts, the best opener can expect is areasonable weak two bid. With kind regardsMarlowe
