But one board doesn't a bad session make. If you accept a defeatist attitude, you're doomed. With one of my partners whose very aggressive -- somewhat of a wild man -- I've learned that 5 cold zeros and 8 cold tops with most of the rest above average can be a very good game. So you've just got to keep on playing. And, of course, there's always the odd game where some more modest players who have trouble bidding games and slams win because there are a bunch of boards where good players are bidding good games and slams that are going off.
