joker_gib
You have : (the kind of hands Roland gets when he is playing rubber bridge :) ) [hv=d=n&s=sxxxxxxhxxdqxcxxx]133|100|[/hv] Your partner opens 1♦, RHO passes, you pass and LHO balances with 2♣. Then your partner bids 3♥, to you : 1♦-P-P-2♣3♥-P- ? 1) What is 3♥ for you ? 1) what do you bid at IMPS, MP ? Alain
helene_t
partner has a good hand with 6 diamonds and 5 hearts. Maybe a void clubs since otherwise she might have doubled. Anyway, I pass.
helium
3H show a strong 2 suiter and i raise to 4 harts. kenneth
pclayton
Something along the lines of: x, AKxxx, AKJxxx, x. This is a dead minimum I'd say. A 7th diamond and even the ♥Q are possible, but not both. Pass, 4♦, 4♥ and 5♦ could all work depending on the form of scoring. I'd probably content myself with 4♦. inquiry
1♦P-P-2♣2♥-P- ? Would show a great hand (I would correct to 3♦, expecting partner to pass. 1♦P-P-2♣3♥-P- ? (assume no unusual agreement on strong two suiter openers) shows a monster hand, that can win 9 tricks in hearts or 10 tricks in diamonds opposite a few fitting small cards in one of the suits. You have a great hand for this auction, the diamonds Queen is gold. I would bid 4♥ at matchpoints, at imps I would think about what is best, I wonder if 4♣ ask partner to pick between 5♦ and 4♥ (needs good hearts to pick hearts as with a random three hearts or two hearts to an honor I would raise hearts immediately. It is worth thinking about what 4♣ might should mean with no specific agreement
Free
Must be a monster, since 2♥ is also strong. So, I suspect a near GF hand with 5♥s and 6+♦s. If he doesn't, I'd be quite disappointed
Guest Jlall
i would have responded 1S (yes im sure im in the minority lol). Anyways, I just bid 4D. They are going to have enough sense to lead a trump im sure, and as game is terrible opposite x AKxxx AKxxxx x simply cannot justify bidding it. I disagree with phil that x AKQxx AKJxxx x is possible. Following the yarborough rule surely pard would bid 4H with this hand. He can make game opposite 5432 432 432
mike777
4D Assume 3h= cannot make game if you have 5hcp and only 3 hearts and 2D.
oldgun
pass ,I think ♥ ♥
luke warm
i bid 4D because i think he'd have opened 2C if he could (big 2 suiter for example)
P_Marlowe
1) Gameforce, 6-5, around +-16 HCP we try to avoid opening 2C / 2D with two suiter, it is possible, but if we have an excuse, we will take the excuse With 6-5 and less than 20HCP, partner can be sure, that an one level opening wont be dropped 2) 4H, were the money lies With kind regardsMarlowe
Walddk
1. A powerhouse (playing strength) with 5-6, not suitable for 2♣. 2. 4♦. My second choice would be 5♦. I will ignore hearts, because partner is likely to get tapped. xAKxxxAKJxxxx Now you need hearts 3-3 in order to make 4♥. If they are not, you will go for a phone number (the opponent with QJ9x will let you know). And with xAQJ10xAKJxxxx It gets even worse. Let's play where we have 8 cards between us. jdulmage
You have : (the kind of hands Roland gets when he is playing rubber bridge :P B) ) Dealer: North Vul: ???? Scoring: Unknown ♠ xxxxxx ♥ xx ♦ Qx ♣ xxx Your partner opens 1♦, RHO passes, you pass and LHO balances with 2♣. Then your partner bids 3♥, to you : 1♦-P-P-2♣3♥-P- ? 1) What is 3♥ for you ? 1) what do you bid at IMPS, MP ? Alain In that auction, partner bids 2♥ to show a good hand, so 3♥ better be: "I have a bagger that can take 9 tricks, please bump me if you have a trick". I would bid it up, Q♦ opposite a jump reverse like that is the "MVC" - Most Valuable Card, hehe
