hrothgar
How many minutes should be allowed for each hand? Just the right amount of time??? In all seriousness, this is a difficult question to answer in isolation. From my perspective, the best solution is the following: Were I designing a Bridge Server, I would consider building in a function that tracks the amount of time that is required to complete a board. [The total number of seconds required from the time at which the board is dealt until it the play neds] Having done this, I would start to gather data.I would immediately try to determine whether there is any causal relationship between the time allocated per round and the amount of time required to complete each board. [suppose the organizers have a fast pairs event in which you get 6 minutes per round. Compare the results to a 10 minutes per board event. Is the mode time to completion different?] At this point in time, you can use the frequency ditribution tables to make meaningful decision about the length of time to allocate per board. In a really complex world, you could track individual players and dynamically optimize the length of time based on who was competing. This seems like overkill, however. Karma
in all seriousness, its a simple question to answer in isolation.I need some idea of how much time the clients want to have for each board. This will be balanced with the tourney paramaters of length of tourney, number of tables and clocked or unclocked.
