A strange situation came up tonight. We were playing a 6.5 table 3/4 Howell and was on round 6 of 12 when this board arose. About half way through the play, South remarked that the hand seems very familiar. The hand is played out, making 9 tricks. At this point South says that this board was played last week, the previous time the club met and calls the director to inform them of the fact. It turned out that boards 15-24 hadn't been shuffled at all, yet this hadn't been picked up on until the director had been called.

To make things a little more interesting still, N/S here were the half table on round 1. Normally, the half table is asked to shuffle all the boards not being played immediately. However, tonight there was no request from director to do so. How far does N/S's obligations go in this situation and how do you rule?

Law 6E makes it clear that all dealing (or pre-dealing) of the hands is at the instruction of the TD. So North/South at the half table in round 1 are not responsible for the boards not being dealt if there was no instruction to do so.

Law 6D2 says that the result on the deals from the previous session can not stand.

Yep. Gonna be a lot of A+s in this session.
