tysen2k
2♠. If opener passes partner may have a tough balance.

luke warm
i'd double lol... the reason is, my ♥K is probably useless and i don't necessarily want a spade lead vs. 3♥.. so my plan is to double then pass (unless partner jumps or something)

Putting the strong hand on lead often makes the whole difference on a hand.
inquiry
Yet again, loyal opposition. My spade suit isn't quite suitable for 2♠. EW have limited their hand and found their fit making it easy for them to double for penalty here if it is right for them to do so. The king of hearts is a soft value. I know all about OBAR and at matchpoints, i would use this knowledge to bid 2♠. But this imps, and we are vul. I am afraid I would pass here. So I pass. if it goes 2H-p-p partner will have a tough balance, but so be it. Ben
Guest Jlall
passing is conceding 6 imps. Close between X and 2S, i like 2S though.
flytoox
When they have a fit, bid! 2S for me.
pbleighton
At MPs or white at IMPs, 2S is automatic. Red at IMPs, it's still 2S, but visions of -500 dance in my head. Peter
the hog
Tough. I'm torn between Pass, X and 2S. I really would prefer a third H, but I'll try 2S with no great enthusiasm.

han
2S for me. Doubling 2S is probably tough for them at IMPs, but playing 2H is always easy. I'd rather give the opponents a hard time!
Double !
To bid or not to bid. That is the question? "It's now or never." ElvisI would risk bidding 2 shovels (automatically makes it wrong! don't exactly like my 5332 shape with 7 losers)
joker_gib
Eternal question ... :) If they have a fit, I have more chances to have one too ! Let's go for 2♠ and see what will happen !
Free
Imo there are only 3 sensible bids: 2♠, pass and Dbl. Problem with Dbl is that partner may have a 3-3 in the Majors, and won't bid 2♠. Why challenge your partner? So there's only pass or 2♠ left. I'm a bidder, but this hand is dangerous. Nevertheless, I'll bid 2♠ since I suppose the other table will do the same :)
whereagles
Hum... 2S is so obvious to me that I would venture to say the only reason this is presented as a problem is it got axed at table :)

If we buy the contract, I prefer to be the one receiving the openign lead, in view of 3 unsupported Ks and AJ of diamonds. If I double, this won't happen. bafoil
WHAT IS OBAR ?
Chamaco
WHAT IS OBAR ? OBAR = Opps Bid And Raise. It is a popular thinking that when opps bid and raise (weak raise), one should bid in the direct seat as if he were in the balancing seat (light), if he has the right shape. The reason for this thinking is that when YOU have the right shape (shortness in opps suit) in the direct seat, if you pass, partner will probably have xxx or so in their suit, so he will hardly balance. And, most of the time, at least at the 2 level, it is losing bridge to sell out. Therefore, you must keep the pressure off balancer and bid with the right shape, even if you are a bit light in hcp.
Fluffy
Imo there are only 3 sensible bids That is 2 more that 50% of the problems I've seen here latelly :). I Am also a 2♠ bidder close to double.

sceptic
I think you should pass and wait for a balance, you have no guarentees they dont have a good opener and a spade lead may prove a bad choice, if opps have a fit and they pass 2 hearts out your p has to do as much as he can not to let them play in a 2 level fit, if he cant balance there, I thinkk 2 spades x down scores worse than 2 hearts making
