akwoo
Two questions: 1) How strong can partner be, and how many spades can partner have? Would partner have raised to 2♠ on 3 card support and any queen or 4 card support (not 4333) and 0hcp? Could partner have passed a bad 7hcp hand? 2) How competent are opps? How likely is it that 2♥ was an underbid? Will North know what to do with various strong hands with and without heart support? If opponents are good and partner can't have spades or strength, I bid 4♣. If opponents might mess up and partner can't have spades, I bid 3♣. If partner can have spades, I bid 3♠. Weak with spade support, he would have raised; strong with spade support, 2NT; strong without spade support, redouble2) Competent opps; 2H is on target
helene_t
2♠ for me. This shows a very good 6-card suit.
P_Marlowe
2S The only alternative is 3C, but since you dont really raise the level, make the clubs diamonds, this changes, 2S it is. With kind regardsMarlowe
the_clown
3♣ - I see no reason not to show my second suit.
alok c
3S. CJ9 & with a side suit stopper will make a game if partner has atleast 2nos of spades to minimize the chance of trump shortage.
gszes
There are very few hands where p has minimal stuff and we can make game. Pretty much all of those minimal hands require p to have club "stuff". 3c Is the only way to get p excited about a minimal hand including KJ AK AJ K9 A9 of clubs. Searching for game here is certainly reasonable so why not make the bid that give partner the chance to reevaluate their hand the best? jdonn
I like 3♣, getting partner more involved. If partner doesn't cooperate over that, we have done enough.
karlson
To me it seems like the problem with 3♣ is that partner might cooperate by bidding 5♣ over 4♥, over which I would very much like to bid 4♠. So I would just bid 3♠ now -- it's true that partner might not evaluate properly, but at least I will play in spades. I admit I would have opened 4♠.
