6♦ = 10. 6♠ = 9. 7♦ = 8. 6♣ = 7. 7♠ = 6, Pass = 5. If opponents go on to 7♣ then your 6♦ may help partner judge what to do, especially if he guesses that it might be natural or lacking a ♥ control.

Yeah. I agree, but.. last time I perpetrated something like that it broke up the partnership. Partner had four card support (ATxx) for my first suit and a void in my second, and when it came round to her, she passed. "I didn't know what to do!" she wailed. :blink:

ROFLMAO. That partnership obviously needed to break up long prior. PD's need common sense and to be able to understand regardless of what rubbish they hold, that you might have a crazy good hand to bid like this. How on earth can anyone with ATxx in the suit you first bid and void in your second bid suit not preference back to your first suit at the same level?

1) If my wife did this it would break up my marriage.

 

2) When she decides to learn and play bridge and if and when she does she will have me to help and every cent we can spare for lessons to help speed her along.

 

3) We will NEVER under ANY circumstances play one hand of bridge as partners.

To whomever voted to pass here. While I think that quite a few forum posters and even world class players bid too much at high levels (esp 5 level) in comp you just have to force to slam with this monster. PD can have K♦ or the hook on. Opps can lead ♣ and PD has ace. PD can have A♥. Opps can sac wrongly in 7♣X and endanger their partnership. I'd hate to play 5♠+2 here.

I would try 6S. I need 3 cards from p (the kings of my suits and the HA) to make 7 and 2 for 6. With his fit, pard will have 1 for sure and often 2. He could have 3 but I fear leaking info and I am not sure how to conclude anyway if it goes 6D 6H. Uninformed opps could bid 7C as a save against a non-making slam while informed opps will not. So I go for a practical gut feeling bid rather than scientific.

Thanks for the replies. Partner's hand was T9xxx QT9xx xxx void (yes, the opponents had a 13-card fit...). I bid 6S and went -1 when LHO led out the ♥AK. Spades broke 1-1, but the diamond finesse was off.
