bridgeboy
Opps 2 level openings: 2D: 6+ H or 5+-4+ S and minor 2H: 6+ S or 5+ -4+ H and minor 2S: Both minor or both majors All bids are 6-11 HCP. Any suggestion for an effective defence against these 2-bids? Thanks a lot
Free
Imo, the best way to defend against brown sticker conventions is with a brown sticker convention itself :D Like "multi vs multi". You might use Dbl as a similar hand, and other bids are natural.
Fluffy
If all of them are forcing then direct bids 16+ nat, double balanced 16+ with 4+ cards on the suit you double, 2NT also balanced but with no penalty on the suit bid, both makes all of our doubles penalty. pass with the rest and balance with 12-15. Its not really perfect, but compensates with them landing on awful contrracts by themselves.

Any suggestion for an effective defence against these 2-bids? Thanks a lot Yes, I agree with free.. I would go with the following... 2H overcall = balanced 15-19, stopper in both majors2S overcall = good club suit overcall (2NT by partner shows fit and some values)2N overcall = good diamond overcall (3C by partner shows fit and some values)3C/3D overcall = weak.. let them figure out what they have.....3NT = big balanced ahnd, both major stoppedDBL = several hand types, 1. Any natural 2H or 2S bid 2. balanced 20-23 3. Monster minor suited hand 4. Any "good" three suited, 15+ Imagine some auctions after the double... 2D-X-2H-X <<--- this double is takeout. If original hand had hearts, or bal 20+ or three suiter not short in hearts, he will pass. 2D-X-2H-P P-X <<--- takeout, here shows spades, or three suiter short in hearts. With monster minor simple bid 3 minor, with balanced biggie, bid 2NT, with three suiter and four hearts? Maybe best to pass. Can also, of course, bid 2S.
