goingoren
Do you open 1 spade here? ♠A975♥QT74♣A8♦54 I think with 10 HCP and 2 points for the singletons it's close. I have two four card majors, two aces, moderate side cards, but am a little short on points. Let's assume you pass. The bidding then goes LHO : PassPartner : 1sRHO : 2c Your bid. mike777
No it is not close unless you open bal ten counts by agreement. I will bid 4s now a tiny overbid.option2=3c
KurtGodel
This hand has 12 cards. If you add any queen or the J♠ then I would open. You don't seem to have one singleton, leave alone two.

Even with 13 cards and 11 points(adding the J♠) I would still pass this hand....there is no stuffing..just bare bones(!) :(

akwoo
If my partner opens this hand with a 3rd club or diamond on a regular basis, I'm having us switch to a mini-NT so at least I know what to do when he or she opens this!

IMOAs opener: Pass = 10, 1♣ = 7, playing 2/1. (But 1♦ = 10, Pass = 8, playing a strong 1♣ system).Over 2♣: 2N (Good 4 card raise) = 10, 3♣ (UCB) = 9, 4♠ = 8, 3♠ = 7.
