uva72uva72
One of the really fun things about BBO is the way North tries to make everything a guess. For example, here is a hand on which North issued a slam invitation. My link Matchpoints, ACBL robot individual. No play, of course. Within the same 24-hour period, North issued much the same invitation with a very different hand. My link IMPS, ACBL robot individual Can North not tell the difference between the two hands? If not, why is it issuing slam invitations with 11 HCP opposite a max of 21?
lycier
Hi Uva72uva72 : You should know we are real bbo fans,so I will stand fair position to make my comments, don't be angry and pay attention the words. Now let's analyse, and decide what is right, what is wrong,ok? First hand :[hv=http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn|uva72uva72,~~M11568,~~M11566,~~M11567|st||md|3S59KH7QAD7QAC68QA%2CS26QH46TJD6TKC245%2CS7AH259KD3589C3JK%2C|rh||ah|Board%201|sv|o|mb|p|mb|p|mb|2N|an|Two%20NT%20opener.%20Could%20have%205M.%20--%202-5%20!C%3B|mb|p|mb|3C|an|Stayman%20--%2011-%20HCP%3B%205-12%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|3D|an|No%20major%20suits%20--%202-5%20!C%3B%202-5%20!D%3B%202-3%20!H|mb|p|mb|4N|an|Quantitative%20invite%20to%206NT%20--%2011%20HCP%3B%2012%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|6N|an|2-5%20!C%3B%202-5%20!D%3B%202-3%20!H%3B%202-3%20!S%3B%2021%20HCP%3B%20|mb|p|mb|p|mb|p|pc|C2|pc|CK|pc|C7|pc|C6|pc|D3|pc|D2|pc|DQ|pc|DK|pc|C4|pc|CJ|pc|C9|pc|C8|pc|C3|pc|CT|pc|CA|pc|C5|pc|CQ|pc|S2|pc|D5|pc|S3|pc|DA|pc|D6|pc|D8|pc|D4|pc|HA|pc|H6|pc|H2|pc|H8|pc|HQ|pc|H4|pc|H5|pc|H3|pc|H7|pc|HT|pc|HK|pc|S4|pc|SA|pc|S8|pc|S5|pc|S6|pc|S7|pc|ST|pc|SK|pc|SQ|pc|S9|pc|DT|pc|D9|pc|SJ|pc|DJ|pc|D7|pc|HJ|pc|H9|]400|300[/hv] IMO,it seems it is reasonable for you to accept slam invitation. However,do you think the pattern of your hand over?I absolutely believe any experienced player should know 3334 shape you hold is too flat - it means 3334 shape usually can't bring about more tricks even with joint 32hcp !It is suit fits to bring about tricks instead of Hcp !While facing partner invitation of slam,no doubt, passing is a best option for sure unless gambling. Second hand :[hv=http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn|uva72uva72,~~M52190,~~M52188,~~M52189|st||md|3S28TJHJKADQAC4TQK%2CS34569H345D34589C%2CS7AH2TD27KC23789A%2C|rh||ah|Board%209|sv|e|mb|p|mb|p|mb|2N|an|Two%20NT%20opener.%20Could%20have%205M.%20--%202-5%20!C%3B|mb|p|mb|4N|an|Quantitative%20invite%20to%206NT%20--%202-5%20!C%3B%202-5%20!D%3B%202-4%20!H%3B%202-4%20!S%3B%2011%20HCP%3B%2012%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|p|mb|p|pc|D4|pc|D2|pc|DT|pc|DQ|pc|CK|pc|S3|pc|C2|pc|C5|pc|C4|pc|D9|pc|CA|pc|C6|pc|C3|pc|CJ|pc|CQ|pc|H3|pc|CT|pc|D5|pc|C7|pc|H6|pc|DA|pc|D3|pc|D7|pc|D6|pc|SJ|pc|S5|pc|SA|pc|SQ|pc|C9|pc|DJ|pc|S2|pc|S6|pc|C8|pc|H8|pc|S8|pc|S4|pc|DK|pc|H9|pc|ST|pc|D8|pc|H2|pc|H7|pc|HA|pc|H4|pc|HK|pc|H5|pc|HT|pc|HQ|pc|HJ|pc|S9|pc|S7|pc|SK|]400|300[/hv] IMO,there are many quite different with two hands. Please you look at your hand again and again,it is 4324 shape, not 3334 - it means it usually will bring about more tricks than flat 3334.(IMO,its following in my approach:2nt --- 4nt6♣ --- P After 4nt,5♣ showing 5-card ♣,6♣showing 4-card ♣,if partner can't disagree,he can bid own 4-card suit,so we still can find 4-4 fits in any suit.)BBO,as a free site, how many benifits does BBO bring about if do so?Above all, that is my thought,I will be appreciated anyone who points out my wrong. Bbradley62
No play, of course. You mean "it doesn't happen to make on the lie of the cards this time." Swap ♦K and ♦J and see what happens. I'm not saying it's a good slam, but it's far from "no play".
steve2005
Gib is showing total points in it's 4N invite. Is it really counting it's doubleton for a NT slam?
