IMO Double (at any vul) = 10, 2 = 8, Pass = 6.

I would double. Pass would be an option to me but at MP w/w it pays to be bidding usually.

 

That was my first thought, but then I wondered why P shouldn't make that decision if in the pass-out seat and known to be very weak. I would have thought doubling suggested better shape or values?

Interesting the votes go to X here despite not holding 4 spades - though I guess if partner bids 2S you don't mind (him) playing the 4-3 fit.

 

My choice at the table which was 2H. LHO doubled this for takeout on Q10xx 10x x AQ8xxx, converted by RHO and it was down two after a minor-suit defensive crossruff. The main point of this thread was just checking that I wasn't going insane thinking maybe my hand was too flat to act again.

 

On the actual hand, double could make life rather fiddly for partner who had K72 75 109654 J105. Out of interest would people find the winning penalty pass here?
