Bbradley62
Opening 2NT = 20-21Opening 2♣ then bidding 2N = 22-24Opening 3NT = 25-27Apparently, opening 2♣ then bidding 3N shows the same thing. Certainly, having 28+ balanced doesn't come up often, but what are we supposed to do when it does? manudude03
4N over 2D was completely undefined. http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/46378-just-another-30-count/ On that hand, I stopped in 4NT with the auction going 2C-2D-4NT. mcphee
The problem you discuss can be solved with Kokish relay after opening 2C. Basically after 2D, 2H s a relay forcing 2S, now the 2N rerbid from oening han becomes 25+.
1eyedjack
Kokish or no Kokish, it does not make sense for 3N opener to have the same definition as 2C-2D-3N. If there really is no distinction, which sequence would GIB choose if holding that hand?

Either that or make 3N opening something useful and live with rare 2♣-2♦-4N as 28-30 hcp balanced (which it isn't even defined now I think)
