More than 27 balanced

Opening 2NT = 20-21

Opening 2 then bidding 2N = 22-24

Opening 3NT = 25-27

Apparently, opening 2 then bidding 3N shows the same thing. Certainly, having 28+ balanced doesn't come up often, but what are we supposed to do when it does?

The problem you discuss can be solved with Kokish relay after opening 2C. Basically after 2D, 2H s a relay forcing 2S, now the 2N rerbid from oening han becomes 25+.

The problem you discuss is Gibs don't play that, even though Kokish relay is an excellent option.

Kokish or no Kokish, it does not make sense for 3N opener to have the same definition as 2C-2D-3N. If there really is no distinction, which sequence would GIB choose if holding that hand?

Yes, this has been brought up before. If 3N is 25-27 hcp then make 2-2-3N=28-30 hcp balanced.

Either that or make 3N opening something useful and live with rare 2-2-4N as 28-30 hcp balanced (which it isn't even defined now I think)
