this is the weirdest jump to slam I have ever seen. I had not even promised him any extras and he forces to slam in a 5-2 fit?

The bridge is the art of cooperating partnership. It is necessary for us to respect Gib partner and understand Gib partner.

After Gib partner made a great judgement - whatever it is good or bad,I think we should accept this final contract, never change it.

Did he really make a "big judgement"? These posts are a joke (I suspect dicklont's is actually a joke, lycier's probably not). Are you really actually trying to say that 6 makes sense on any planet, let alone Earth? I could have had

Good luck making 6 hearts on this hand. You need:

-hearts 3-3

-spades 3-2

-spade A onside.

I'm not going to bother multiplying these but I would venture to guess it's about a 10% slam.

(on the actual hand:

-hearts 3-3 or Jx in either hand

-clubs coming in

for something like 30% tops)

GIB doesn't know that I have the best hand at the table and he certainly doesn't know that I have 6-5. I'm not saying 7 was a good bid per se but usually when GIB jumps to slam when I haven't promised more than I have, his judgement is fine and I can re-raise myself if I have substantial extras.

PS if you want to say "I agree with you that 6 is an awful gamble but your 7 bid was also bad" - that's fine, we may disagree a bit but it's fine. Or even "I think 6 is a good bid, definitely better than your boneheaded gamble of 7" - in that case we will disagree much more but fine. But I don't see how it's contributing much to the discussion to just say my 7 bid was bad since it definitely did not cause the robot to jump to slam unless it had a time machine. I don't mind criticism but please also address the robots. I talked about the "gwnn discussion forum" already, it is full of angry GIB posts, most of them justified, but the genetic engineers say they have trouble obtaining the consent form from the subject to change his programming. In the meantime could we also talk about GIB in the GIB discussion forum instead of talking about me?

6H is a ridiculous bid and I question whether it is good judgement with sight of all of (but only) the N/S cards. To say that it is a good bid or good judgement because the contract happens to make is a classic example of resulting. The correct question to ask is whether there is an alternative route to 6H (assuming that is where you want to be here) which would still find 6H on these cards but stay out of it when it is bad. The correct spot could yet be in Spades or Clubs at that stage, although responding 2H may not help much in finding Clubs. Incidentally I do not think that 6H is a great contract here, as others seem to, with a much safer 6C available, which is still not underwriten by Lloyds. However this was MP, so I don't insist.
