In real life it doesn't matter since play stops when a claim is rejected and the director sorts it out. But on BBO, it is normal that play continues after a claim is rejected. When a claim is made, all four hands are revealed, so a defender can reject based on their partner's hand. Now I see that 1eyedjack already mentioned this.
