don't comment on the bidding pls 2S=4SGF

opening lead small diamond

"Why not 7NT pd?"[/hv]

Unimaginative guess: Draw trumps. Cash AK, K. Unless a black Q appears, finesse T.

If rho turns up with 4 s, instead, you might, more imaginatively: Cash AKQJT (discarding 2 s). Then AK (looking for a singleton Q or doubleton QT). Continue with K, Q, A (throwing 9 unless it's good). Finally, unless 8 is good, play AK4.

When you have "impasse situation" to avoid one of many way is the squeeze play (in this hand 3 impasses). With this "aleotorital" on this spot is not the case of positional endings. Than let us win diamond, Q , in dummy in diamond, A and K of spades, A and K of heart ( does Jack falls down ? if not) pitching a club (hopeing to be on 4-3), retourning in S with diamond. Now if an opp has 3 controlls had to be squeezed on next-to-last free winner diamond because if not running last diamond both opp will be simultaneously double (double menace in club) squeezed by a twin entry ending (type B with two winners). In spade an opp must have Q and 10 or if honors are divided one opp not unblocking. One of problems about this automatic ending is reading the exact orientation of unilaterals to discard that controlled by W when not winning menace in N. (In case of ruff in heart and overruff by S had to supply a repeating triple squeeze).

The other squeeze solution is clash requiring heart controll (9 or J) in W (because automatic position doesn't work): win diamond in dummy and let you cash A then run diamond pitching a club on 10 . W if retain heart should descart club on last diamond otherwise you can cash separatly J and K of spade (Q of spade in W) and you descart 3 in dummy and now last heart squeezes E in spade and club.
