Question 2: What's your call? (If you disagree with double feel free to explain why; we play 1NT as nat 15-18.)
mike777
1) would just take it as a general force, I have a huge hand, tell me more. Cue=more than 3h raise here. 2) 2s now.
Vampyr
2) 2s now. For me, 3♦. I have more in that suit. On the other hand 2♠ is a lot cheaper...I see why you had a problem.
PhilKing
Pass. With an extra point I might make a raise. B-)
straube
I like... 2S-general force, promises a rebid3D-agrees hearts, highly invitational or better3H-agrees hearts, invitational So I'd rebid 3D. If I didn't have this agreement, I'd probably just bid 3H.
P_Marlowe
#1 I would guess 2S natural, to strong for a direct 2S bid, but still nf, 3D art.#2 4H With kind regardsMarlowe
mgoetze
#2 4HJust out of curiosity, do you expect partner to bid 1NT if he has 9xxx Jxx xxxx xx?
PhilKing
And back to question 1, I think a raise to 3♥ should promise 5 trumps, since when we are very strong partner often has 3 trumps here. I suspect in a vacuum I would play 2♠ as naturalish (eg 5413 or 5404 strong) and 3♦ as a 4-card raise.
P_Marlowe
Just out of curiosity, do you expect partner to bid 1NT if he has 9xxx Jxx xxxx xx?No. At the end of the day Pass, 3H and 4H are ok, but I am not sure, partner knowes, whathe needs to raise 3H to 4H, so I would either go low, or shoot for the stars.
