iandayre
Another very poorly thought out GIB sequence. My belief - GIB E has too many HCP to pass according to its programming, but then it ridiculously passes 2S. It can't anticipate that the obvious problem with doubling is that you cannot handle a S advance. If it is going to make an offshape call based on HCP, 2NT is far better than double. I wish there were a way to highlight posts on this board as those requiring immediate attention from BBO, as opposed to more general discussions. This is certainly the former! This is certainly the former! Its the excessively restrictive requirements for No-trump bids. The GIB programming thinks that people need over-descriptive GIB bid descriptions which at time strait-jacket GIB and other times leads to bids that bear no resemblance to the description. People need to get past the description of how many cards in each suit and more the general quality of the bids.
1eyedjack
I don't believe that there is a link between the descriptions of bids attached to them in the bidding summary and the meanings ascribed to them by GIB in deciding what to bid. The descriptions are provided as an afterthought for the benefit of human players at the table. On this hand GIB was bidding with itself, and would pay no attention to the descriptions. It is simply very bad bidding. End of. Either East should bid 2N at first turn (preferred) or should pull 2S. The descriptions have no bearing on this hand.
